Judiciary Committee should move to impeach Bush and Cheney - Philadelphia Inquirer - 01/27/2008

There is more than ample justification for impeachment. The Constitution specifies the grounds as treason, bribery or "high crimes and misdemeanors," a term that means "great and dangerous offenses that subvert the Constitution." As the House Judiciary Committee determined during Watergate, impeachment is warranted when a president puts himself above the law and gravely abuses power. Full Story »

The corporate press mostly refuses to cover advocates of impeachment, in spite of the wide public opinion in favor of it. This article provides a well reasoned argument by a distinguished legislator.

This opinion piece has little value. Despite the author's claims, few Americans see any reason to impeach the President or Vice President. If the author had read up on history before writing this piece she would have known that other wartime Presidents treated civil liberties far, far worse than Bush. The author would at least be honest if she had then said she would have impeached Lincoln, Wilson and Roosevelt for their crimes.
