The country needs a stimulus, but anything we do will add to our soaring deficit, so it is important to get as much bang for the buck as possible. The view is expert and convincing, but more meat would be good. If the major problems in the country are the Iraq war, global warming, good paying jobs for poor and middle class workers, energy dependence, and health care; why not target economic stimulus to improve as many of these problems simultaneously? Education and subsidies for installing point of use solar power is an example. Planting forests for carbon sequestering. Recall the troops. Train energy conservation experts and pay them. Design telecommute jobs. Paint parking lots and roofs white to increase solar albedo. Gather all the wild ideas and evaluate and apply them.
