It's a well balanced story which tries for a rational discussion of the 'immigration problem'. And I suppose the comments about who runs the economies can't really be documented, even though a lot of us 'know' that they're true. The solution proposed sounds sensible. What's sad is that this is not a publication of wide circulation, and that the media which do have 'the public's' ear or eye will never pursue such a story - it's easier for them to just quote the candidates' comments. Contexts - the historic and repeated failures of our and Canada's governments to offer sanctuary to desperate refugees from holocausts, genocides, and massacres because of fear that they'd take jobs away from citizens. The article makes some good points. It is interesting the the former persidential candidate, Dennis Kucinich was saying very similar things, though noone of the news outlets every reported on what he was saying. One point left out is that the United States had a quota of essentially 5000 unskilled workers perrmitted to come per year per the world. This was totally unreasonable and with the temptation of all the work, anyone in his/her right mind and caring about supporting their families risked their lives to come here, documents or no.
