We frame the differences in terms of "conservative" and "liberal," but these are tired old markers that with overuse and misuse have largely lost whatever meaning they used to have and with it, any ability to explain us to us. Pitts give a well articulated short look into politics and opines that the divisions being seen in U.S. society are between yesterday and tomorrow; a failure to adapt to change.

One understanding of racism was that poor whites needed somebody to be better than, and enforced it with lynchings and intimidation. Is this migrating in a post-racial world?
