How the Pentagon planted a false story

The source of this spate of stories can now be identified as Bryan Whitman, the top Pentagon official in charge of media relations, who gave a press briefing for Pentagon correspondents that morning. Excellent, objective story. And one of a growing number of emerging articles about how neocons "did it": rigging elections, destroying political opponents, centralizing media ownership, emasculating regulatory agencies, faking news, falsifying data, concealing mortgage scams--and other criminal activities far too numerous to mention here. To engage in such a clumsy, tranparent lie shows just how badly the administration wants to invade Iran. More oil, anyone?
