Fairly straightforward interpretation on wsj/nbe 12-14-07 poll indicating Republican ambivalence towards presidential candidates. A partisan Democratic take might be that Bush has left the Republican Party in as unhealthy a state as the country. The WJ opts for the opposite approach "In part, Republicans are victims of their own success, party professionals say.", but that does not speak very well of Republican party professionals. .

The WSJ site asks you to subsribe to see the full story. Murdock isapparently trying to get his pound of flesh for news that pimps for Republicans. I don't think a story analyzing the miniscule differences in a tribe of moral midgets is worth the subscription price.

Really interesting "analysis/thesis" of how different Republican candidates reflect different Republican constituencies. I wouldn't put it in the "good journalism" category, but it would make a great research topic.
