An interesting story -- an oddity -- by any means, this is a worthwhile piece of journalism. But, as a reporter with over two decades of experience, I think it fell down on some important technical details. The writer failed in not putting some mention of the unlikelihood that this would come to pass up higher in the story. The story is a bit misleading because that key part is left to the very end and that tends to leave a false impression to anyone who quits reading in the fourth or fifth graf. The journalism in short: good idea, bad execution.

the 5 W's all covered and in an entertaining way. Much front page reporting needs to follow and maybe some polling and questions for the candidates.

This is a brief outline around a complex story - but do notice the writer includes the telling fact that Vermont is the only state left unvisited by Bush & Cheney (scary for them, no doubt). Since every Congressional District in the USA recieves massive money and contracts from DoD and Federal Govt, in my mind that explains why more "folks" don't want to take the responsibility of looking the feedbag in the mouth.

The story is instructive in telling the degree of outrage by the people of Vermont. If only the US congress had the intellectual courage to demand the same thing; for protection against either tyrannical Republicans or Democrats.

It is well sourced with quotes from the major players including the Vermont Attorney General. Whether you agree with the sentiment of the "measure" or not you have to agree that the proposers are passionate. This is a symbolic gesture by the authors and signers and the article could have done more to emphasize this.

Daims has been circulating documents that claim the community acquires a “universal jurisdiction” to take such steps “when governments breach their ... More »

This story presents all sides, and even the White House was contacted for their response. Typically, they have no truck with opinions of "the people" but I wish these Green Mountaineers the best in their quest. Excellent story.
