You're Damn Right I'm Angry. Why Isn't Everybody?

But I don't intend to change, and I don't intend to stop making the arguments contained in my rants. I'm angry for a very good set of reasons, and I'm angry because I care about my country just the way conservatives claim to. I'm angry, in short, because I'm a patriot and defender of the ideas that America is supposed to stand for. And what I really want to know is why those on the right aren't equally outraged? This opinion piece cycles through the last 30+ years, looking at how Republicans have mistreated the US and the world while in positions of power. There are at least several exaggerations (e.g. "truly sociopathically insane gun laws in this country helped to claim the life of John Lennon"), and the author seemingly fails to consider taking the Democrats to task for anything. I also wonder about the news worthiness of this piece. I did not find any particularly insightful commentary or analysis.

The piece is a very good rant that gathers many of the main outrages of the decade into explaining the anger felt by those with a sense of patriotism and love of the law, justice, peace and the environment. It is well written.

There's just one problem: unless I missed it, there's nothing about why all this has happened with, apparently, no real, consistent opposition (I think they're called Democrats), and no ongoing consistent media news or editorial opposition. Silence is the voice of complicity, anyone?

A passionate though fair listing of many of the misdeeds of the Bush Administration. The author asks the question - why isn't everyone else as angry at the internal trashing of America as he is? It's a good question.

Main disadvantage of this opinion piece is that it requires a tremendous amount of background knowledge to be understood.

A very nice opinion piece that presents all that is so wrong with the current administration. Sure to infuriate thelast 17% of the country that still supports Bush and the neocon agenda.

My primary complaint is that this is written in a level of shorthand by assertion that anyone who is not already well informed will perhaps not feel compelled by. Even so, it is a good compilation notable for its resulting brevity. It misses many areas of insult and injury from regressive forces, focusing only on global warming in the environmental area but is plenty damning enough in areas where it does hit.

Is this silly or stupid? It's hard to decide. This fellow has a problem with democracy because its the people who elected the persons he dislikes so much. We can be thankful that the people have common sense and extremists like Mr. Green have no chance of being elected dogcatcher in the USA.

This opinion piece was not appropriate for NewsTrust. There is no journalistic content to evaluate. The author is unaware that the tax rate cuts under both Reagan and Bush resulted in the wealthy paying a much higher share of Federal income taxes. He does not acknowledge the magnificant performance of DHS in saving more than 10,000 lives in Hurricane Katrina. Almost every other point is equally distorted or downright false. These pieces should not be submitted to NewsTrust. They subvert the purpose of the organization, which is to evaluate journalism, not to vote on whether you like someone's biases or not.

I liked it because I absolutely and totally agree with the author. It's similar to another article that appeared recentently: "Why isn't Everyone Outraged". I have been angry and outraged for 7 years. I can't understand why the American People lie down and take it. I don't understand why we can't muster 5 million emails to Congress about some of these issues. I wish there were 100,000 Articles like this one. keith campbell denver
