The story wanders around the question of the lack of attention in the press and political dialog to pressing scientific questions such as global climate change, medical advances, and a host of other issues. The concomitant overemphasis in the media about religion seems to be taking the air out of rational policy discussion. The story could be deeper and more incisive, but it cuts the surface.
