The medical and pharmaceutical giants have masterfully bought politicians wholesale and managed to convince, what one might think are intelligent human beings, to buy and own an argument that is in their worst personal interest. Not unlike the furious fist pumping that drowned out protests against going to war in Iraq., there are actually Americans believing that the non-profit, as police, fire and water, isn't a good thing for health care. Unfortunately one can't carry on a conversation with them because their ideology is based on NO information and much emotion. A product of the devastation of our public education beginning with Gingrich's Contract - that systematically eliminated Civics from our schools. Imagine trying to argue health care with someone that has a high school diploma but doesn't know that Hawaii is a state or doesn't understand that Medicare is precisely the formula for a public option or comprehend that their freedom to bear arms doesn't mean they can shove it in my face. It's impossible to practice charity and hate one's neighbor because he thinks differently. It's impossible to practice conservatism without conserving anything. The conservative movement was hijacked by corporatism and it's deeply saddening to watch people, friends and family included, cheering against their own best interests. (Here come the NT ideologues with bad reviews for my opinion)
