the number of people willing to sacrifice to help reduce the effects of people on climate change is shrinking, is perhaps the most important item in this story. the focus is on the effect of the media's lack of interest in the issue and the ads sponsorship by the energy company giants. a number of other factors which have an impact are not mentioned here.

the first-paragraph description of the night sky without ambient light--the "sense of the magnitude of creation" may be a factor missing for much of the population. not only the stars, also other earth-bound vast spaces without habitation ,much diminishing, yet relatively unknown by so many, contributes to the loss of that sense of magnitude and so, to our lack of concern as a nation.
