Op-ed piece which asks uncomfortable questions about fundamentalism / moderation in Islam. Where are the Islamic commentators on barbaric incidents such as a recent Saudi woman's conviction for the "crime" of riding in a car with men to whom she was unrelated, and after which experience she was gang-raped, and following this experience she was sentenced to 200 lashes? Possibly these condemnations and commentaries may have been issued but are not being reported by the world press. The author of this piece has noticed the silence but hasn't gone out looking for comments.

While this is an opinion piece, it provides much information in context, and raises critically important questions. The author's personal experience lends a high level of credibility to her argument in this article. While she holds to far-left-wing views on many of the important political/social issues of today, the points presented in this article cannot be faulted for partisanship or ideology.
