Chris Matthews Rewrites History about the Clintons and the Origins of the Iraq War

On last Wednesday's Hardball, Chris Matthews asked a rhetorical question that no one answered. So I will.

"I'm amazed now that Bill Clinton has come out and said he's Jerry Rubin. I mean, he's now become -- announced the fact that he's been against the war -- I love the phrase, "from the beginning." Within a few hours, by the way, the verb -- the verb tense changed from the past to the present. This is like the old "is" is question. He's now ... Full Story »

This a good and very damning rebuttal to the lies repeated adnauseam by the prejudiced, muleish, uncurious Main Stream Media in the person of Matthews. Leaving the fifth w, 'Why' unasked. Good and accurate title.

I'm sick of being lied to. The president and everyone who works for him, including all his appointees; all the media religious people; all talk show hosts; all the pundits; all newscasters- all these people who lie to the public should be immediately removed from the airwaves. They should KNOW the Facts before they 'inform' the public. We need to take back our country from the liars and spinners who are ruining everything. As long as we tolerate being lied to, we will continue to be lied to.

There is one problem: one of the quotes regarding Clinton's pre-war statements summarizes his position as:'the United States should exercise patience in its standoff with Iraq to help build allied support for a potential strike." No commentary was made on this qute. If it is an accurate summary of Clinton's words, then he is not particularly "against" the war or even "opposing" it so much as he wants to have the war justified--as with Bush 41--by building a coalition. Unfortunately, this bit of "evidence" does not really support the Clinton assertion. The rest of the information, however, is nicely presented.

A very well put together article of the facts in the case. As always, when you use just the facts to present a story, it is engaging and informative. I wish the MSM would figure out that a lot of us prefer our news unbiased.

Historical revisionism is rampant in our society. This article cites sources and dates to provide proof that this revisionism is alive and well regarding the actions / inactions preceding the Iraq War. Newspeople clearly have agendas here, they should have warning labels on them much like cigarettes - use at your own risk - promotes non-thinking and blazingly insane positions with repeated use.

A journalist who actually read the 2002 resolution authorizing force! Who actually went back to look at the record rather than joining the predictable chorus of complainers who criticize what they never bothered to understand. Here are the actual quotes for people to read to make up their own minds about who is being thoughtful and truthful and who is rewriting history.

This opinion piece leaves out too much of the factual evidence. It quotes the 50% that support the author's views, but leaves out the 50% that oppose his bias. He ignores the intelligence reports in 2003 from almost every country in the world about Iraq's intentions and activities in order to quote from discredited people such as Hans Blix and Joe Wilson. Minimal journalistic merit.
