This is a well sourced and written article. It explains the situation prior to the release of the latest NIE (though the 2005 findings are left out). Importantly, it does not resort to the blame Bush-Cheney ideology, but rather emphasizes the problems in the intellegence agencies that the new information reveals, problems that are not the fault of either of them. The major shortcoming of the article is that so much space is devoted to the views of Senator Hagel, who is a marginal presence in the Senate and leaving after next year. Many other Senators from both parties would have been much better qualified to be quoted.
