US says it has right to kidnap British citizens

Slippery slopes are a danger to everyone. Do the British, the North Koreans, the Saudis, now have a "right" to kidnap Americans? This is another "Catch 22" of our age, and the public needs to understand the ramifications. The story obliquely highlights an area most Americans don't even know exists.

another 'how to win friends and influence...' information piece about us in the world. i would have liked to have read some other opinions from other british and u.s. government/ public figures including those from congress re: their views on when and how this is likelyto be used. falls under 'more revelations about our government' category.

The story ignores the courtroom practicalities of this case and presents a piece of information somewhat out of context. Given the current climate, it's easy to jump to the conclusion that the US is asserting this right. The attorney in this case is simply presenting the US position based on legal precedent.
