It's a somewhat scary view of what may really be going on. Sourcing seems plentiful, if mostly anonymous, but there is a quote from Holbrooke. I

What it implies is that the Talibn is a lot more powerful and entrenched then most Western governments and media sources are willing to admit. That makes me wonderwhat 'mission accomplished' here will look like. And Afghanistan has defeated more than one Western power in the past.
