Comedy works best when it stays close to the truth. It is hard to argue with this story because the sources comments make up the whole story.

You know what the poet said about "a foolish constancy"? Stewart demonstrates it with his usual brilliance.

Love Beck's outfit! Makes him look like the clown he is.

Well...what can I say? Beck is a jerk, as Jon Stewart aptly demonstrates. The real shame, however, is that the public is so thirsty for the point of view Beck represents that they are willing to drink from shallow waters. If the mainstream were more willing to explore the issues Beck takes on, potential demogogues like Beck could never gain a foothold. Love Jon Stewart, but dismissing Beck as an irresponsible clown fails to address the fact that, more often than not, he effectively airs the grievances of conservative Americans.

Jon Stewart's piece reminds me very much of the entertaining video collages that were often put together during Ronald Reagan's presidency. Reagan too was dismissed as a shallow hypocrite, that is when he was not being attacked as an addled prevaricator. Yet Reagan's impact, both domestically and abroad, is difficult to dispute. Commentary like Stewart's is to be expected, however it is hardly insightful.

Absolutley - even half the "news" shows were as informative - we would all be more informed and and be in better health just from having a laugh at ourselves

Is it quality journalism - given what I see and read in the media - this ranks up there with genius. Jon Stewart skewers with the best of them. Take no prisoners Jon and make no favorites.
