While most Sunnis recognize the Shia community will retain control of the central government, radical Sunni elements can and will create problems. The Sunnis and Shia have a joint interest in keeping the Kurds from taking too large a share of the countriy's oil wealth, but this facot does not get much attention in this article.

I think Nouri al-Maliki is doing a reasonable job in a difficult situation. Recently, he called for the world to tie Israel's hand behind its back so no insane attack on Iran takes place. Excellent proposal.
