Taliban capture third western Afghan district

Pretty standard journalism. The unwillingness for NATO forces to engage is really the larger story as far as I'm concerned, especially given their stated concern on having a limited window to help Afghanistan. It will be interesting, but probably unsurprising, to see how the geographical location of the captured districts figures in the US response.

While the U.S. talks about war in Iran, and whether to pull out of Iraq, we have largely lost sight of the first war we started in the region--in Afghanistan. From the Reuters wire service in Canada comes this daunting report of how fragile that government is as well. Though politics and the media was last week's topic, I thought this demonstrated how the media coverage--or lack of it--can impact public perception. In this case, out of print, out of mind.

Is it porn for liberals? Is it that darn liberal media again? Is it factual? Is it spun? Is it anecdotal? The real frustration is not knowing whether the information is accurate, in context and without a political spin. It is interesting, but on it's own without corroborating information falls in to the "hold" box.
