It's hardly news that Republicans in America are deeply distrustful of the national news media, or that Democrats generally have more trust in the media's accuracy. But given the relentless "liberal media" drumbeat of the past decade, it IS a little surprising to find that nearly half of our citizens say they have either "a great deal" or a "fair amount" of trust that the mass media reports the news "fully, accurately, and fairly." All in all, however, this Gallup poll presents still more evidence of the need for NewsTrust, I say!

Conservatism has always disliked the news media because they bring issues into the light. Conservatives love keeping their issues in the shadows. Interestingly, Conservatives used the media to their own advantage until the media finally wised up and stopped cheerleading. This country would have been much better off if the media had much earlier awakened to the Bush-Cheney manipulations.
