NewsTrust encourages participants to rate news stories, media outlets, and even one other. Unlike the more popular Digg or Reddit, which asks users only if they like or dislike a particular story, NewsTrust users are presented with a wide range of criteria, including thoroughness, fairness, and sourcing. It's the classic "wisdom of the crowd" notion -- the best and most important stories should rise to the top, regardless of whether they appeared in the ... Full Story »

Good overview of the rapidly changing media landscape, with a focus on how the Internet (and 'net neutrality') have encouraged the development of grassroots alternatives to big media. This story covers a very broad topic, which is informative and well researched, with lots of helpful links. I find this a mediocre article. It does a good job of stating the case for net neutrality but grossly overstates the degree to which the web is fulfilling its promise in journalism. I find the blogs great places to reinforce my strongly held opinions and pan those of others; however, unemotional objectivity and civil discourse are hard to come by.

Good story, mentioning NewsTrust in good company. True that corporations who took the risk and laid the physical infrastructure for the internet have long term plans, and count on recovering their outlay, plus profit. However, Entertainment marketers are losing mind-share, especially with youth, so therefore again behaving like wounded predators. There are alot of ways to include more people in profit-sharing content, and to reduce the greed and foolishness at the "top".
