Belgium moves towards burqa ban

I'm pretty disappointed with this coverage, that fails to explain what the ban is really about. If there are few women in Belgium this would affect, are politicians in Belgium more concerned drawing a line in the sand about immigration than anything else? How about an interview with someone who wears a burqa?

Newsworthy, but totally lacking in context and consequence.

I'm troubled by the possible effects of these bans and I'm skeptical that these leaders are concerned about women and their well-being. Do they believe that the women will go out in public uncovered? Seems much more likely that they will remain at home where they can observe their religious customs--leaving the women only more isolated and ostracized from any modern, secular society. Although the only source quoted is the MP who is introducing the legislation, the story does not seem to be biased for or against the ban. It does give a good description of exactly what the ban would entail, and cites other similar laws in other parts of Europe and Canada.
