Bush: I'd Like to Fight In Iraq, But I'm Too Old

Interesting commentary, especially at the time of the revival of the Dan Rather story of being attacked by the corporate moneyed press for reporting on the W AWOL story. The thought came to mind that perhaps his age should be calculated from the time he was born again, then, god willing, he could be sent to the front lines without adequate armor. They are taking just about anybody with a mental age above five now, it is rumored.

I'm not sure why this is reported as being other than editorial. While my politics may in part agree with the writer, the way this is presented doesn't ring as good journalism to me.

One important bit of context that is missing: Bush is not too old. When he sent troops to fight in Iraq he was 56, yet US soldiers older than he have been fighting and dying in Iraq. Instead of that publicity stunt on the Aircraft carrier, he could have volunteered.

Good grief! To paraphrase Lilly Tomlin, I worry that no matter how cynical I become it is never enough to keep up. The hypocrisy here is more than any reasonable person should have to stand.
