This is an important, but flawed, opinion piece. The first section (up to the "*****" section break) includes very few sources, and at least a couple of those are self-citations. There are also a few quotes from McConnell that support the author's assertion, but those are provided without much context. And there are numerous broad and undefended generalizations. For example, Greenwald says that "corporatism was the hallmark of many of the worst tyrannies of the last century." This may be, but he offers nothing to justify his claim: no evidence given, no experts cited, etc. Thus, the backdrop for the argument that follow is deeply flawed. Greenwald lays out the corporate takeover of government and the complicity of the WaPo in trumpeting the corporate advocacy of abolishing civil liberties as though the corporate head were a government representative.

This is a scary and important article. It is clear that corporations are out of control. Now thanks to the Supreme Court these and other corporations are free to put as much money as the think into elections.

best writer on the net....spot light on the revolving door of warmonger/administration slime bucket .

Greed and fear are ruling our nation. the congress is looking for a job when they leave their elected position....so lets leave things as they are. We need more Alan Grayson's.

Mr. Greenwald story of corporatism and political culture of conflict of interest by our most powerful political and corporations such as Mitch Mcconnell is absolutely unpatriotic and shameless. This article is a must read for all Americans who is concern about our country.
