A thorough story, primarily from the point of view of the physician, but with comments from frustrated Republicans and others, on the legislation currently working its way through Congress that could provide increased health care coverage for children, as well as possibly (only in the House version!) provide realistic payment for physicians, especially increasing coverage for primary care and preventive services. As a family physician, I would have preferred some coverage of the stress on primary care physicians offices under the system as it is, with increased stress from the threat of decreased payments. Still, the story, from arguably the most prestigious medical journal in the world, is outstanding.
