Stimulus:How Fast We're Spending $792 Billion
(Graphic) The success of the federal stimulus program may hinge on the speed with which the government is able to distribute the billions authorized by Congress. Unlike some other estimates of the cost of the stimulus, which are based on spending projections, we took our numbers from the actual budget authority issued by Congress — $792 billion and change. Things I’d like to see: • More detailed explanation of what the money is being spent on within each category. • Less of a chart, more of a graphic. • The ability to make projections, adjust the numbers, and otherwise manipulate the data to get a better understanding of how I (as a tax payer) would spend the money as contrasted to the government. • Much better integration with their blog. • A page that looks like a designer instead of a developer designed it.
