Someone’s gotta do it, and ProPublica’s presentation does a decent job of showing just how the billions of dollars are being spent. The interface isn’t all that amazing, and some terms are hard to understand, but the effort is there, and the reader can, at a glance, get a sense of how much money has been spent.

Things I’d like to see: • More detailed explanation of what the money is being spent on within each category. • Less of a chart, more of a graphic. • The ability to make projections, adjust the numbers, and otherwise manipulate the data to get a better understanding of how I (as a tax payer) would spend the money as contrasted to the government. • Much better integration with their blog. • A page that looks like a designer instead of a developer designed it.
