the story is hypotheses as logical not-unreasonable extensions of current events in various places around the world, a number of which are described. the writer doesn't discuss but perhaps coincidentally, reminds us of the neglect of city infrastructure in this country which could play an important role in any of these scenarios. scary, but offers ideas for how to prevent disastrous conclusions, unfortunately primarily in already-developed countries.
