Murray's Illinois mine has 2,787 violations since 2005

Murray's Galatia mine in southern Illinois racked up at least 2,787 violations and more than $2.4 million in proposed fines from the Mine Safety and Health Administration over a two-year span, according to government records. The pattern of contentuous abuse and Bush administration special aid in skirting the law do not speak well for the credibility of this major Republican political contributor. And these are just the reported violations. The mainstream media seem hesitant to report this background and just echo Murray's braying, and hesitant to report the special influence effected at the highest level of federal government.
