Occasionally, there appears to be some confusion on the NewsTrust site - with science or health related articles heavily downgraded by scientists or medical practitioners for lack of links to original journal articles referenced in the story, or information that is too limited in a piece of journalism to allow a scientist to make a reasonable determination about the validity of the science behind a story. This blog entry shows that these same concerns exist in science blogs and will provide those so inclined an opportunity to take up that cause where it is may have the greatest impact. As someone who's been appalled at the high ratings given extremely weak reporting on science-related stories, I'm pleased to see that the issue, as it relates to blogs, is being addressed. It remains to be seen whether what is developed is useful, since so few people actually pay attention to the statistical analysis that is essential for determining the validity of a research study.
