The puny U.S. moves to solar, corrupted by bribes from oil and coal and nuke corporations provide the backdrop for this story. A bit sparse on the reporting, but efforts by China and India are presented.

Maybe national pride can be used to motivate U.S. energy policy changes in the right direction.
