Red State - By Dan Spencer - Jan. 11 (Breaking News) - President-elect Obama, in an interview with George Stephanopoulos on “This Week,” would not rule out political retribution dressed up as investigations of the looney left-wing’s fanciful allegations of Bush administration war-crimes: OBAMA: We’re still evaluating how we’re going to approach the whole issue of interrogations, detentions, and so forth. And obviously we’re going to be looking at past practices and I don’t believe that anybody is above the law. On the other hand I also have a belief that we need to look forward as opposed to looking backwards. And part of my job is to make sure that for example at the CIA, you’ve got extraordinarily talented people who are working very hard to keep Americans safe. I don’t want them to suddenly feel like they’ve got to spend all their time looking over their shoulders and lawyering.

Red State - By Dan Perrin - Oct. 29 (Opinion) - There are seven serious, historic, demographic and other wise culturally compelling reasons Senator John McCain and Governor Sarah Palin will win the election on November 4, 2008 – a date of defeat that will sear itself into the Democratic Party’s collective consciousness. The first and foremost reason McCain-Palin will win is the absolute arrogance, elitism, condescending, patronizing and in-your-face voter suppression campaign – don’t vote for McCain, he can not win -- being conducted by the national media on Senator Obama’s behalf. Americans do not like to be told what to do. But the national media has become a feminized, electronic vote-for-Obama nagging machine. There is plenty of precedent for the average American telling those telling them what to do, to go pound sand, especially to those who tell them over, and over, and over again. Just ask the HMOs. Their you-can’t-do-this or you-must-do-only-this business strategy ended with the average American saying NO to joining HMOs. Essentially, the media have been frolicking in the streets in an orgy of Obama adulation and McCain bashing. Now, they will wonder why anyone would be disgusted by their behavior, or want to knock them back in their place? This is a symptom of their chronic and insular world condition.

NBC Lawyer who nixed troop ad gives generously to Congressional Democrats

Red State - Dec. 08 (Opinion) - The Majority Accountability Project has found that the NBC lawyer who refused to allow a non-profit group to air an advertisement thanking American troops for their service has donated at least $45,000 to a host of Congressional Democrats, including House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, New York Senator Hillary Clinton and the campaign committees of House and Senate Democrats. According to a Fox News report, Richard Cotton, the general counsel for NBC/Universal, was one of two network officials who decided not to sell ad time to Freedom's Watch, which describes itself as "a nonpartisan movement dedicated to preserving, protecting, and defending conservative principles and promoting a conservative agenda."

Moderates. What are they good for?

Red State - By streiff - Mar. 01 (Opinion) - In my view, which I've articulated often on this list, there are two great myths in American politics. The first is that candidates have to run to their base to get elected and back to the center to win. I've been voting since Ford-Carter and I'm hard pressed to find an example in my adult life of that actually working. The second is that you have to win moderates to win. Well, yes, in the sense that you have to win goatherds and longshoremen. But in the sense that moderates control the election, no. Moderates have to vote for who the political base, left and right, has nominated or they have to stay home and it is much more important to get your base out in droves on election day than to woo moderates and alienate your base.
