New York Post - By Marc Siegel - May. 13 (Opinion) - The Massachusetts "universal health-care system" -- the model for ObamaCare -- is in big trouble after just five years. The latest bad news: a survey from the Massachusetts Medical Society of more than 800 doctors. The wait time for an appointment is now routinely over a month for primary-care doctors and specialists -- including gastroenterologists, cardiologists, orthopedists and even obstetricians.
NewsTrust Rating: 1.5 average (not enough reviews) - See Review » - Review It Visit NewsTrust | About | Sign Up | Disclaimer

New York Post - By Amir Taheri - Apr. 20 (Opinion) - Believe it or not, by the start of 2011, the only Arab country that appeared safe and stable enough to host the summit was Iraq. Yes, the same Iraq of "quagmire" and "new Vietnam" repute. But Iraqis weren't keen on hosting the summit, either. Iraq's post-Saddam politicians prefer to emphasize "Iraqiness" (Uruqa) as opposed to "Arabness" (Uruba) -- not surprising in a country where non-Arabs are 30 percent of the population. Nevertheless, the Iraqis, tickled by being acknowledged as the only stable place in the "Arab World," agreed to host the summit. The man put in charge was Foreign Minister Hoshyar Zebari -- an ethnic Kurd who speaks literary Arabic with a Kurdish accent.
NewsTrust Rating: 3.7 average (not enough reviews) - See Reviews » - Review It Visit NewsTrust | About | Sign Up | Disclaimer

politicsandfinance.blogspot.com - By Michael Haltman - Apr. 06 (News Analysis) - Can Noel Coward's take on pandering to the Germans during WWll be compared to the war on terror today where political correctness (PC) serves to mold the approach we take towards Islamic extremists?

Rhymes With Right pointed out an article from the New York Post in which the columnist referenced the Noel Coward song below.
NewsTrust Rating: Not rated yet - See Info » - Review It Visit NewsTrust | About | Sign Up | Disclaimer

$60 trillion in debt

New York Post - By Gregory Bresiger - Sep. 19 (Special Report) - How bad is the nation's debt problem?
While the official number -- $13.4 trillion, according to the Congressional Budget Office -- is frightening enough, some analysts say the actual figure is much, much higher. Like a shopaholic who hides their credit card bills, the government pretends certain obligations and expenditures don't exist. Uncle Sam really owes closer to $60 trillion, or more, and the country is close to bankrupcy.
"The government is lying about the amount of debt," says Laurence Kotlikoff, an economist at Boston University and co-author of "The Coming Generational Storm: What You Need to Know about America's Economic Future." "It is engaging in Enron accounting."
NewsTrust Rating: 2.7 average - 4 Reviews » - Review It Visit NewsTrust | About | Sign Up | Disclaimer

Shocking testimony reveals police inaction in Conn. horror home invasion

New York Post - By Laura Italiano - Sep. 15 (News) - Podunk local cops wasted more than half an hour assessing the Connecticut home invasion and setting up a vehicle perimeter -- time the two attackers used to strangle the mother in her living room and
set the fire that claimed the lives of the two girls upstairs, according to shocking testimony today.

The revelation -- which suggests perhaps the family could have been saved but for police bungling -- came on day three of testimony in the murder trial of crack addict Steven Hayes, charged as one of the two monsters who launched a rein of rape and murder against a Cheshire, CT family on a Monday morning in July, 2007.
NewsTrust Rating: 4.1 average (not enough reviews) - See Review » - Review It Visit NewsTrust | About | Sign Up | Disclaimer

Embattled EMT Jason Green, 32, and a male pal were trying to get into Greenhouse, a popular club on Varick Street, about 5 a.m. when bouncers turned them away because the friend wasn't properly dressed, officials said.
Minutes later, about a block away from the club, Green and his friend got into a dispute with an armed man who stepped out of a car at Vandam and Hudson streets and opened fire on them, police said.
NewsTrust Rating: 3.8 average (not enough reviews) - See Reviews » - Review It Visit NewsTrust | About | Sign Up | Disclaimer

At one point, his advisers talked of convening a White House summit with Muslim leaders. When that scheme was exposed as fanciful, they recommended that he attend the Islamic Summit Conference, convened once every three years. But that, too, has turned out to be problematic - so now they talking of plans for "a major address in an Islamic capital."

Why Foreign Ownership of US Assets is a Big Deal

New York Post - By John Crudele - Sep. 18 (Opinion) - A few weeks back President Bush used his trip to the Olympics to chide his hosts, the Chinese, about human rights violations. Even if the president was truly passionate about the issue that probably wasn't the best move.

Last week the Chinese - along with our friends the Japanese - are said to have insisted that Washington take action to protect their investments in Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, which is exactly what happened.

A lot of stuff has happened in the past week - AIG's bailout by the government, Lehman Brothers' bankruptcy and Merrill Lynch's shotgun marriage to Bank of America, to name a few.

But the fact that the Chinese, or anyone for that matter, had any influence as to how our country conducts its financial affairs is by far the most important and long-ranging event.
NewsTrust Rating: 3.7 average (not enough reviews) - See Review » - Review It Visit NewsTrust | About | Sign Up | Disclaimer

In other words, Obama wanted a delay on the Status of Forces Agreement, not on the Strategic Framework Agreement - as his
NewsTrust Rating: 3.9 average (not enough reviews) - See Review » - Review It Visit NewsTrust | About | Sign Up | Disclaimer

Obama tried to stall GIs' Iraq withdrawal

New York Post - By Amir Taheri - Sep. 16 (News Analysis) - Obama has made many contradictory statements with regard to Iraq. His latest position is that US combat troops should be out by 2010. Yet his effort to delay an agreement would make that withdrawal deadline impossible to meet.

Supposing he wins, Obama's administration wouldn't be fully operational before February - and naming a new ambassador to Baghdad and forming a new negotiation team might take longer still.

By then, Iraq will be in the throes of its own campaign season. Judging by the past two elections, forming a new coalition government may then take three months. So the Iraqi negotiating team might not be in place until next June.

Then, judging by how long the current talks have taken, restarting the process from scratch would leave the two sides needing at least six months to come up with a draft accord. That puts us at May 2010 for when the draft might be submitted to the Iraqi parliament - which might well need another six months to pass it into law.
NewsTrust Rating: 4.1 average (not enough reviews) - See Review » - Review It Visit NewsTrust | About | Sign Up | Disclaimer

And yet Obama - despite Jeremiah Wright, despite the Muslim rumors - has had a far better relationship with the religious right than you might think. The masterstroke comes next week, when the Obama campaign launches The Joshua Generation Project (Sounds both Biblical and sci-fi, no?). Its goal: to solicit, engage, and win the votes of young evangelicals, young Catholics, and "people of faith."
NewsTrust Rating: 1.6 average - 4 Reviews » - Review It Visit NewsTrust | About | Sign Up | Disclaimer
