In an attempt to stop the frenzied online spread of dissent against President Hosni Mubarak's 30-year rule, not only Facebook and Twitter but the entire Internet was shut down overnight, leaving some 20 million users stranded.

NBC News - May. 08 (News Report) - Six men from New Jersey have been arrested in an alleged terror plot against soldiers at Fort Dix, according to law enforcement sources. Investigators said the men planned to use automatic rifles to enter Fort Dix and kill as many soldiers as they could at the New Jersey military base. Fort Dix was just one of several military and security locations allegedly scouted by this group, authorities said.

Westchester Man Accused Of Helping Terrorists

NBC News - Feb. 21 (News Report) - The FBI arrested a Westchester man Friday in connection with allegedly trying to send more than $150,000 to terrorists in Pakistan and Afghanistan. Abdul Tawala Ibn Ali Alishtari, a 53-year-old from Ardsley, N.Y., has pleaded not guilty after being arrested on material support for terrorism charges. Alishtari entered his plea in U.S. District Court in Manhattan Friday afternoon.

You’ve been hosting a convention of liberal bloggers and political activists. What do you think your convention has achieved? MR. MARKOS MOULITSAS: Well, you know, there’s this perception of bloggers as being these anti-social people, typing away at keyboards in their parents’ basement. And I think what we’ve seen is that actually the people who read these blogs are a real cross section of the Democratic Party, a real cross section of America. We have all age groups represented; we have people that are blue collar, white collar. And at the end of the day, no matter how much they may love to be online and use the blogs to find each other, they crave that flesh-and-blood interaction, and that’s what they’re doing here today.
