It is not clear what caused the blast, which has not been officially confirmed by the authorities.

A large uranium conversion plant, located some five kilometers from the center of Isfahan, processes uranium chemically to adapt it to the enrichment process with centrifuges carried out in other sites like Natanz.
NewsTrust Rating: 2.6 average (not enough reviews) - See Review » - Review It Visit NewsTrust | About | Sign Up | Disclaimer

And no, you won't find a great hummus restaurant there. You may well wonder how this could be, since every Arab town seems to have an "authentic" hummus place that caters to true aficionados. For years, Israel struggled to be recognized by the Arab world. But in March 2002, when the Arab League and the Muslim world took up the Saudi initiative to recognize Israel within its 1967 borders, a new threat appeared: peace, which can fragment the Jewish character of the state from within, and rightfully so.
NewsTrust Rating: 3.6 average (not enough reviews) - See Reviews » - Review It Visit NewsTrust | About | Sign Up | Disclaimer

Following the passengers' rejection of the agreement, the forum of seven high ranking ministers decided to go ahead with the plan to stop the ship and take it over, as was done with the previous Gaza flotilla.
NewsTrust Rating: 3.4 average - 3 Reviews » - Review It Visit NewsTrust | About | Sign Up | Disclaimer

Haaretz - Jun. 01 (Editorial) - The grave political damage caused by the confrontation is all too clear. Relations with Turkey will probably deteriorate further, and there may even be serious damage on the official level. The proximity talks with the Palestinians, which started lamely and with low expectations, will have trouble proceeding, now that Israel has attacked a ship intended to aid Gazans languishing under a four-year siege. Hamas claimed an outstanding victory without firing a single rocket, Egypt is under redoubled pressure to undermine the siege by opening the Rafah crossing, and it's reasonable to assume Europe and the United States will not be able to let Israel get away with a mere reprimand.
NewsTrust Rating: 3.9 average - 4 Reviews » - Review It Visit NewsTrust | About | Sign Up | Disclaimer

Unemployment: Israel's other existential threat

Haaretz - By Nehemia Shtrasler - Apr. 20 (Opinion) - Away from the spotlight, an internal threat is brewing that is no less dangerous, one slowly wearing the country down and placing it in danger of collapse. Taub's report on employment found that a considerable portion of the Israeli population doesn't see itself as part of the workforce. These are people who have removed themselves from the collective body and decided to live at the expense of the public, as well as those who have left the job market due to lack of education or professional training. The unfortunate result is that only 56 percent of Israel's potential workforce is employed, a figure that stands at 66 percent among Western countries, and that gap is only growing wider.

The unemployed are concentrated in two communities: ultra-Orthodox and Arabs.
NewsTrust Rating: 3.8 average - 7 Reviews » - Review It Visit NewsTrust | About | Sign Up | Disclaimer

Haaretz - By Bradley Burston - Mar. 04 (Opinion) - One thing you can conclude, is that part of the Jewish state's demographic problem begins at home - with the Jews themselves. Increasing numbers of hardline Jews have been stating publicly and categorically - some of them in an official capacity - that if you do not agree with a set of arbitrary, occupation-friendly articles of faith, you cannot call yourself pro-Israel, and that you have no place in the movement called Zionism, here or abroad.
NewsTrust Rating: 3.9 average (not enough reviews) - See Review » - Review It Visit NewsTrust | About | Sign Up | Disclaimer
