On Wednesday, Herdict, a Web accessibility-monitoring project run by Harvard University*s Berkman Center for Internet & Society, said there were several reports of Facebook being inaccessible from inside Egypt as well.

Facebook unveils new messaging system

Computerworld - By Sharon Gaudin - Nov. 15 (News Report) - Swatting down recent rumors that it's launching an e-mail killer, Facebook today unveiled a new messaging system that will envelope e-mail, instant messages, Facebook messages and SMS. Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg launched what he calls a "modern messaging system" to handle the convergence of different kinds of messages and bring them together under one social umbrella. The system, which has been in the works for about 15 months, is designed to save all messages, meaning users will have a history of their communications.

Weiss - Nov. 13 (News Analysis) - Before and during last week's midterm elections, reports emerged that "vote flipping" -- where a voter selects a candidate using e-voting hardware and the machine counts the vote for another candidate -- had occurred in some states. For example, voters in both Broward and nearby Miami-Dade County in Florida had complained of vote flipping during early voting, though local elections officials assured the public that no votes were changed.
