The American: A Magazine of Ideas, was founded in November 2006 by James K. Glassman, the former President of The Atlantic Monthly and former publisher of The New Republic, as a project of The American Enterprise Institute, a conservative think tank. Writers include Amity Shlaes and Victor Davis Hanson.
