This is surprisingly succinct and extremely accurate work by Glenn Greenwald. Fear is the one single factor that joins the far-right wing of the current iteration of the Republican Party. With almost surgical precision, Greenwald points out the Right's overreaction to the upcoming trials of those accused of the 9/11 terrorist acts is both politically motivated AND fear-driven. The stated goals of the terrorists have been, from the beginning, the destruction of our society by their use of fear as a weapon. If the Far-right continues along their current course of action, then Greenwald's subheading is ALMOST completely accurate: "We're too scared to have real trials in our country" is a level of cowardice unmatched in the world. ... Unsurprisingly, Gallup - who leans about 4 points to the right in virtually every poll they produce these days - tries to position the results of their ongoing poll as a win for the Republicans. The fact, however, is that the effect of the neo-fascists and neo-cons on the Republican party does not appear to be one that will be positive, short- or long-term for the Republican Party, as can be currently evidenced by the self destructive actions going on in the Special Election in New York's 23rd District. Gallup has been accurate in the past, but the further toward the reich-wing they lean, the less credible their results become.
That Faux is still allowed to even use the word "news" to describe themselves is a disgrace to journalistic integrity. Unfortunately, Huffington Post is just stating the obvious here.
This is a great piece of quality journalism, of the kind that's not seen as much. Sadly, other than through NewsTrust, it's likely this story in the WashPost won't be covered or taken further by anything else.
I think - for covering the "topic" - it's an OK attempt. But I think the entire story is just another attempt by Clinton supporters on one side, and the reich-wing Republican operators on the other, to try to make Barack Obama somehow distasteful to the American public - who ARE bitter AND dissatisfied. If they weren't bitter about the state of the country, and dissatisfied about it's trend, the operative word of the 2008 election season wouldn't be "Change" - now, would it? Once again, Barack Obama handled things well. I just wish that compromised $%^&! Clinton would just get off the stage, before she screws everything up for everyone, and lets McBush get into the White House.
May this be a harbinger of things to come for Faux Noise and the neo-fascists. I'd LOVE to see these headlines, in REAL media (something else I'd like back) sometime in the next few years: FOX BUSINESS CHANNEL SHUTDOWN DUE TO NON-EXISTENT RATINGS FOX NEWS CHANNEL FOLDS DUE TO LAWSUITS AND POOR RATINGS ROGER AILES AND RUPERT MURDOCK FOUND DEAD IN APPARENT GAY MURDER-SUICIDE PACT Of course, that last one isn't likely to happen - but a progressive ethical journalist can dream, can't he?
This is a typical Zogby poll; accurate, solid, facts. It also continues to prove what many wise political watchers have been saying for a while now - that an Obama/Edwards ticket appears to be the most likely way to win back the White House, and get the country TRULY working together. Hillary may be qualified for the office - but these polls appear to reflect she is NOT the right person for the job, at this time.
It is - in a sense - good journalism. It's journalism in the sense that this story is NOT the same thing as the garbage that so many of those who call themselves journalists these days produce - a product most of them are pushing because their wealthy corporate owners see Clinton vs Giuliani as the best bloodsport for ratings/circulation in 2008. This story is journalism because - while it may already state things that most of us know - it frames the argument more fully, instead of just saying "Hillary isn't electable." Is it textbook "good journalism"? Hardly. But when so much of the ramblings of so-called journalists these days are simply words designed to keep them employed by their right-wing leaning corporate masters, it's ... More »
In general, this is a good story - and further shows why certain members of SCOTUS need to be... "eliminated" after the next Presidential election, or sooner, if possible. Resetting the law back to a position that is actually LEGAL and supports both the rule of law, and the precedents set before the Reich Wing took over, will be a formidable task.
Sorry; anything from Insta-dumbass is already negated as crap, just by the source it comes from. Apples come from the apple tree, and crap comes from an... well, you can figure it out.
This is just another example of a screaming righty desperately trying to say their collective ship isn't going down, when in fact, the neo-fascist, reich-wing, faux-christian, faux-FISCAL conservative wing of the Republican party is already more dead than James Brown, and smelling twice as bad. Give it losers - bury the damn thing already, and quit yer' cryin'. No one but you killed your party, and no matter how you wish to cherry-pick statistics, the truth is, the era of Faux Noise channel false Republicanism is over. This story - and it's writer - are trash.
This is an audio story, and it's not bad. While there IS a small anti-democrat thread to it (the "expert" is a WSJ hack, go figure), the general trend of the article is true. Not bad, and yet another piece of info that would be good for all those with ID10T badges to hear, especially who've been smoking "The Market Will Save Us" or "Tax Cuts are ALWAYS best" bologna logs.
Good story. EVERY story like this should be front page news, though. Of course, with the current administration and Congress, that could mean pages of this stuff every day. Of course, THAT would be solid journalism and might "offend" some advertisers. Boo-hoo. Do it anyway.
Harder to judge the "journalistic" quality of this "story." It's an opinion piece, so, unlike a "story" - where one can be biased, right/wrong, etc. - it's harder to judge this based on the limited guides given here. While opinion pieces can be misleading, full of lies and rhetoric - and under BushCo influenced media, usually are - this one seems sourced as it should be, and is written well. Unfortunately for those few who may still support the corporatization of America through Bush, Rove and Company, this piece rings fairly true. Keep this kind of thing up.
