I would be interested to know if the author tried to get an interview with Yakiya Amano. It would be interested to know what his take is on the charges. As a contrast it should be pointed out the US has a long history of being bellicose and the media and people are always willing to think war will solve the problems. The US never wants to appear weak.
My next concern is what can be done about this. It seems similar reports keep cropping up but it does not change the whole picture.
this article could have been more in depth. How many e-mails were sent to Lowe's? There was no attempt to contact the church group and no report about how large this church group is.
The major thing that was apparent to me was that no one seemed to take the opposite opinion. Is it only the five Supreme Court justice who think that corporations have the same rights as citizens? It is a shame that we need to incorporate a constitutional amendment to demonstrate that it is individuals who have a right and not corporations. If the corporations have a right and the Board of Directors and the executive of the Corporation will have twice as many rights as your average citizen.
Not many sources are cited. The author gives a number of scenarios but does not back it up. It is the usual doom and gloom.
Eric Alterman has brought up a very good point. The media is falling over itself because they think they sound intelligent. And why do they give so much coverage the Republicans who have such hare-brained ideas? I never could understand all the hullabaloo over Ames, Ia straw poll.
The article was well written and the author made his point clearly. But I couldn't wondering why the author was even bothering unless he is not a fan of Poltifact or similar sites.
The article was posted in the Chicago Tribune and the Early Show on Saturday. The credit belongs to the AP.
The article leads with John McCain and like all articles that tries to draw attention to him, there is hardly anything about the nincompoop for the Senate Foreign Relations committee.
This article is merely a report and nothing more. It could have been much better if the author could have gone in depth to show the facts and fallacy that both sides are arguing.
This story starts out with a bias and never presents one argument why it just might be flawed. The quote from Jessica Faller is more on the mark. Women can be unmerciful to each other and are blinded by their biases. As an example take any office where women predominate and there is a deep distrust among many of them. For Taranto to become a cheerleader for Palin in unacceptable. As a public figure there is always the danger of both good and bad publicity. So, Taranto should get over it.
The article is one sided but it is the side that I support and it does make some poignant points. I would have been harsher on the Supreme Court since they dropped the ball on this one. The Supreme court has no business making predictions.
As with any economic news lately, it is hard to know what is really going on. There always good news with scattered amounts of slow growth. It is time for economists to state the obvious and that unemployment will continue at their high levels for 2 - 3 years.
This article is merely a report and nothing more. It could have been much better if the author could have gone in depth to show the facts and fallacy that both sides are arguing.
I agree with the author Rupert Cornwell but as someone who listened to the orignal speech I do take exception with the portrayal of the times. Cornwell is right on about how beholden the US Congress is to MIC and many other special interests for that matter. It is too bad that Ike warned us but never really did do anything while in office nor did any of the following presidents who only increased the spending and if the US does not use the products themselves thay make a terrific ... Very interesting article. It helps me to better understand the demise of journalism. I do abhor sensational joournalism. Journalism should be informative.

With House set to debate healthcare, government finds up to half of Americans under 65 have preexisting conditions
It seems that the debate over health care, the Republicans keep reverting to propaganda. At least the Dems are offering data. The Republicans should be challenged on why they insist so many Americans are not to be insured.
I do not understand jurnalism today. Too many stories come out that are totally false. They have lost accountability and responsibility.
I enjoyed the article. The author even published the pertinent e-mails which made the article more believable and responsible. After all accoring to Bill Sammon quotes are sacrosanct.
I am glad to see someone come out with the rest of the story. Hats off Dan Eggen. Perhaps I missed it but he never cites where he received this information.

Now we need some research on why the public still supports the false claims. We also need a report why the mainstream media does not call out the candidates more often.
