I'm a cyclist, and I agree with Dresser that cyclists are sensitive to honking. The writer says he "tapped" the horn, but I would wager that no horn anywhere has ever been "tapped." The writer thinks his horn honks are communicating with the cyclist, but instead, they are irritating and potentially very dangerous. @Mary, yes, I know the exact spot where these cyclists were waiting. The bike lanes on Roland are cracked and have lots of “veins” that easily eat up a road bike wheel. Until the road is re-paved, there’s no choice but to go out into the road.

I can't believe I'm saying this, but I agree 100%. I ride on the roads a lot. On the weekends, I'll be out for 3-4 hours each day. Every ride, without fail, usually has a 'horn tapper'. As cyclists, there's no point in going out of our way to rage. So the driver tapped his horn. A jarring experience when you're on a bike, but drivers don't know how loud their horns are.
