This is an interesting article because it relates to the discussions we had on Monsanto early on in the semester and the report that one of my classmates did previously. I find it interesting and slightly ironic that even with advanced chemicals, mother nature has still managed to evolve and overcome these new pesticides.

This article is interesting because it relates to the issue of government protection of wild mustangs that we talked about early in the semester. While there are measures being taken to protect the wild mustangs, it is apparent that there are still a number of people who are opposed to allowing them to roam free, even on government protected land.

This is another important article on the danger of rabies because since last week when i posted the other article this attack and probably others have occured. It is more important than ever to get pets vaccinated against rabies to avoid infection.

This article wasn't very interesting, but it was informative. Rabies is still a very serious problem, and it is important for domestic animal owners to keep current on their vaccinations.

This article is interesting because prior to last week's class I did not realize the inherent dangers of water shortages in the west. Since water shortage is not something we concern ourselves with on the east coast, it is interesting to see how areas out west have to deal with such water shortages. Hopefully in the time since this article was written the reservoir has obtained more water, but if that is not the case the state government seems to have a pretty good handle on the water shortage issue.

I felt that this was a very interesting piece because of its significance in the understanding of early human culture. I was fascinated to know that horse domestication has gone back so far into prehistory, and it would be cool to learn more about these early animals. I would like to see a full diagram of what these horses looked like in comparison to the horses that we have today.

Their findings show that in the fourth millennium BC horses in Kazakhstan were being selectively bred for domestic use. They also show horses were being harnessed, possibly ... More »

This was slightly interesting because the topic has to do with this week's class on milk. However, I don't really find the subject of the differences in milk very interesting so this article did not grab my attention. I feel that this is more of a local issue for the people of Wisconsin than for a national audience, because the dairy farmers concerned in this act are local farmers. However, I do agree that pasteurization is the safest method for selling milk, as there are many health risks associated with drinking milk with bacteria in it.

This is an important topic for Californians to be informed about, but out here in the east it doesn't have much relevance. It's sad that there is not an abundance of water this year, but thankfully the harsh winter we had seems to have paid off in some fashion. However, I feel that this might be instrumental in teaching californians that water is a precious resource that needs to be used sparingly. I would be interested in knowing if we have as many water concerns on the eastern seaboard.

This was an interesting article because of our class' discussion of BGH in cows. I was surprised that a cow could be capable of producing so much milk every day. It seems from this report that the cow is kept in good living conditions, but I would be curious to know more about the type of dairy farm that Tom Kestell runs. Also, how ethical is it to use BGH on these cows, even though it is "farily common" in the industry? Perhaps selective breeding is a more effective and safe alternative.

I didn't like this article because I thought there was not enough research done for my tastes. Even though I wasn't really interested in the topic, I felt like the article was much too short for an extensive look at the gathering of wild horses. The videos provided more insight, but I feel that the actual written story was not sufficient.
