I believe that this article is good journalism because not only is it informative, but it's also extremely relevant to today's society. The article cites both experts and those who have experienced domestic violence first hand. Additionally, the author also uses outside sources to define the meaning of domestic violence for younger audiences. Overall, the article is very informative and depicts a very critical issue facing society today. I believe that that is what makes it very newsworthy. Also, by telling the story of a local girl's tragic experience violence, helps tie the reader closer to the subject. The issue as a whole seems to hit closer to home.

I do believe this is good journalism because it is relevant, newsworthy, and trustworthy. The author uses multiple sources, such as Almeda University, The U.S. Department of Education, and school officials. Additionally, the author attempted to contact Rocklands school, but received no response, which is therefore cited in the article. I thought this article was very thorough and well researched. There are quotes and sources which verify all the evidence as well as statistics to keep the information factual. In addition, Kevin Seawright, the educator in question, gave the author a copy of his college transcript. Thus backing up the information further. However, I do believe this article is slightly biased. Too many of the ... More »

The problem with this article is that it's based off a rumor. If the author had backed up this rumor with credible sources, then that would be one thing. But this article only has one source, a Councilman who's ties to Mfume are unclear. Additionally, the lead is misleading. The title of the article claims that he Mfume will not be running for mayor. However, the lead says that Mfume is "emerging again this year as the city's most famous perennial rumored candidate." Overall, I believe that will a few more credible sources with ties to Mfume would make this article much better journalism.

I think this is a very good example of good journalism. It's relevant, newsworthy and well-written. The author provides a good explanation behind RENT so even those who haven't seen the production will understand the meaning behind this article. Additionally, I believe the article is well-sourced. I do, however, wish the author had spoken to Towson students on their take of the controversy, besides the online opinions from broadway.com Overall though, I believe this article's relevance and trustworthiness prove it to be good journalism and a great source of news. I would definitely recommend this article for others.

Overall, I did enjoy this article. It was well-written and the pictures that went along with the article allowed me see how "majestic" and the "incomparable splendor" that surrounds the park. However, this article is very one-sided and lacks sources. It's mostly the author's opinion on the park but doesn't enough sources to back up his claims; although the pictures do help convey his stance. Also, the lede to this story was a bit vague. I didn't quite understand where the article was going until the end of the third paragraph- when the author mentions Druid Hill Park for the first time. I think that by coming up with a new lede and getting more sources and quotes, this article would have been much stronger. In the end though, it ... More »

I do believe that this article is good journalism. It's relevant to society today because Donal Schaefer recently passed away. For the many people of Baltimore, he was an important figure and therefore his passing is a current topic, which makes this article very newsworthy. Additionally, I think this is a very well written and trustworthy article. Interviewing people Schaefer had worked with over the years, this article really takes a long look at everything Schaefer was able to accomplish. I believe that the author tried to take the essence of Schaefer and convey that to the audience, like using fun little anecdotes about Schaefer jumping into the seal pool. For me, it's stories like that which make this article worth-while ... More »

Although the article is very well written and very relevant to today's society, I feel that it really doesn't conclude anything. The author goes back and forth on whether or not the suicide rate in the work force ties to the economy. He'll claim that it does, but then he'll take two steps back and say something that proves the theory wrong. Therefore, his conclusions are a bit vague. However, the article is sourced well and is very factual and reliable. There are links, graphs, and sources throughout the article to support the information he has collected. Also, the topic is very relevant to today's society because the recession and job market has affected nearly everyone. Therefore, I do think the article is newsworthy, I ... More »

I do believe that this is good journalism. The article is both relevant to the current economic standing of the world and it is trustworthy. All the facts Stephen Ohlemacher used throughout the article are supported by trustworthy sources, such as the IRS. Additionally, the article is relevent because April is the official tax paying season. Taxes are on everyone's mind right now, thus making this article very current to today's society. Overall, "Super rich see federal taxes drop dramatically" is a trustworthy, relevent, well-written news source that clearly defines the rules of good journalism.

I believe that although Paul Krugman has written better columns before, this case is well-supported and is therefore good journalism. Being an opinion column, he is allowed to be biased and he is allowed to bash the Republican party. It's his opinion. Additionally, he does cite all of his sources with names and buisnesses, thus making his article trustworthy. Finally, it is relevant because he is referencing a speech Obama made just last week and the resulted chaos from the Republican party. Therefore, his article is newsworthy and current. Overall, it's Krugman's timliness and trustworthiness that define "Civility is the Last Refuge of Scoundrels," as good journalism. However, I still do believe that this isn't his best.

I think that this good journalism because it wasn't just another story about the conflict in Libya. It took on a new angle, from a hostage's point of view. Raedle's tells his story first hand, and it's that experience that makes the article both reliable and newsworthy. There is also a video to accompany the article which further proves Raedle's story and the authenticity of this article. Overall, it was the article's relevancy and unique angle that made me want to read it. I thought it was very interesting and definitely worth the read. It's also very good journalism.

Despite several grammatical errors, the premise of the article is very relevant. The article was written the day of the tsunami and because of the long-term effects it has left on Japan, this article will be relevant for quite some time. In addition, this article took a different angle on writing on the tsunami. Rather than just publishing an article on the tsunami itself, the article talks about the Marylanders that it has affected. By interviewing Marylander's with tie's to people in Japan, the article becomes all the more relatable for the local news station. The downside to this article is that several sections are not all that well written. For example, "His son lives is in Tokyo, where aftershocks from the historic ... More »

In my opinion, this story is good journalism because it reports from an angle that is different from the norm. While most newspapers are reporting about the Obama's first vacation as the First Family, this story takes on a different approach. It reports on how the family vacation will be to Martha's Vineyard where there are many illegal immigrants. Therefore, it raises the question, 'When will Obama sort out the problem of illegal immigrants?'
