I thought this story was very informative. it gave me a good idea about whats going on internationally and how our government is trying to handle the situation.

It must be hard for the author to write a piece solely based on quotes and information given to you. since its a story based on what the United States' government speculates the Chinese government is doing, the only evidence she was able to put into her story is based on biased opinion. i think it was a challenge for the the author was to keep the story neutral and present her findings as clear and as factual as possible. I think not being able to speak to top officials directly ... More »

This piece is good journalism because it is relevant to today. this issue of illegal immigration and the rights allotted to persons of that status is a big debate all over the country. It gets you thinking about the pros and cons of granting rights, such as higher education, to those who, legally, aren't suppose to be here. With that said it also lacks the human side of the story. Although one quote acknowledges the struggle of an illegal immigrant, it fails to show the harmful effect these new rules may have to the undocumented student themselves.

This Coverage does well to stay away from stereotypes. Although, i did find it a bit of a conflict in the continuous word choice the author decided to use when speaking of legal and illegal students. Only once did the author state that the illegal immigrants may be more or just as academically qualified than the legal student. but each time Legal students were mentioned it stated "legally and academically qualified residents". I believe this article thus activates stereotypes by ... More »

This is a good journalism because it gives a well rounded story. It is not just stating the opinions from one side of the argument, but it gives different point of views from people and organizations with different perspectives on the situation.

This Article does a great job of not employing any stereotypes. Although they name the gang, they make sure not to tie down any race or ethnic background to them, even though we as a reader can pretty much figure that out for ourselves. And even when talking about the cons of these gang injunctions the author was careful to only mention the phrases "minority" and "people of color". By doing this it gave the reader a chance to read the story without a image in their head that may have ... More »

This is good journalism because it is relevant to today. It gives us numbers we can look at and compare to each other. It is also easy to understand.

I really appreciated this story. It was well written and easy to understand. Its nice to know where the government gets their statistics from and its even more shocking how wrong they have been. I guess the questions you have to ask after reading this is weather or not this was done purposely to deceive the American public and create a false sense of hope for the economy. I mean the Census must of known that their system was out dated. And another question we must ask is how will ... More »

This is good journalism. I believe it gives great background on the subject. It also give good insight to the situation at hand and what where the events that lead up to this point.

This is a well written piece of work. Although i do believe it gives good background, it gives good background for those who are already familiar with the story. A person unfamiliar with the background knowledge may end up being even more confused about the main topic at hand. it jumped back and forth from the to issues present and became a little unclear on the views of some of the people involved.
