This article reads more to me like a retelling of what took place at a finance committee meeting with a listing of the bills, and a few quotes from the key participants. I think it would have been better to use this information as a starter to a more in-depth article on what Maryland's overall strategy is on the environment and saving money through green approaches, versus a listing of the bills proposed. While the article is factual, and does provide some sourcing, I think it falls short overall. If you really did just want to know what happened at the meeting, though, and wanted nothing else, you are probably happy with it. It's also written well enough, very straight-forward and direct. It just left me wanting to know a bit more.

This is a great, local story with more national appeal given the topic. I think the author did a great job of providing an overview of where we were nationally with "re-shoring," but also how it's affecting those locally in Maryland. Because the topic is a bit dry, unless you are really in tune with business trends, I think a bit of multimedia would have added significantly to the piece. Maybe a clip of a local worker who has a job because of "re-shoring" or something along those lines. I would have also liked to hear from at least one more local company participating in this trend. As someone who is in PR, I would love all this placement of my company as Zentech has, but it would probably be better journalistically with at ... More »
I think this article shows a lot of great research and definitely includes multiple sources to back up the claims. It did a good job of presenting the side of the researchers, but I would have loved maybe a quote or two from an actual addict or a participant in the study. I don't think this article was very well written, however. While the author paints a good picture, it takes way too long to get to the most interesting parts of the story, and I think several paragraphs could have been heavily edited down without losing the story. As a Baltimore resident, I am very interested in this topic, but I wonder if you had less of an interest would you have stuck around to see where the article was going?
For the most part I think that this article portrayed a rather emotional and touchy subject fairly and unbiased. It touched on both sides of the issue, although it may have quoted the anti-protesters a bit more. It provided the necessary information about the Supreme Court ruling, and the background information needed to understand it. I do feel like the writer was borderline close to adding in the smallest bit of bias with the lead and closing. But, then again it is fact that "some may think their words are hateful" and "Had that law been passed sooner, perhaps the case may have turned out differently," so it's hard to argue that. I also think that the photo and video used were correctly chosen. They evoke emotion, and bring ... More »

I would love to see a follow up story to this piece to see where the research goes and what the outcome is--if any.
