The author uses one quote in the entire article, and conveniently it expresses a degree of intimidation by lawful authority in terms of immigrant paperwork, as well as use of improper english. The article, which expresses immigrant fear of deportation or citation, is continuously displayed throughout the article and emphasized in this quote, which i believe, would only further ensue debate. No solutions are offered in this article about the issue, however, the author ends the article ... More »

The author of this piece does not use any apparent proof of interviewing. Background information is provided with the historical content of eliminating a ban on gay & transgender blood donations. By doing this, there is a sense of progression within society in accepting the LGBTQ community as equals. While studies have shown that people involved in sexual relations with same-sex partners are more susceptible to STIs, it is no longer the doctors place to allow or deny transfusions or ... More »

This article definitely addresses the public structural issues of the state of Arizona having the authority to confront people who cross the American border illegally. The article discusses the structural issues of "pre-emption" which questions whether federal law outweighs the state law in certain circumstances. The article slightly address the inequity of a Pennsylvania law that made it harder for immigrants to have a place to live or work by fining landlords who rent to them and ... More »

The stereotypes covered in the story are focused around Latino/Immigrant workers taking the lower paying, less consistant jobs simply because they are often denied legal documentation. While this is factual, it ... More »

There are definitely questions of ethics in reporting on a story entitled "gay teens create a 'teachable moment.' The ethics issue that comes to mind first and foremost, is the last line of the article from Steven Goldsein, the chairman of the gay rights group Garden State Equality -- "any tragedy points out the need for action, but believe me, we'd rather not have tragedies happen at all. Don't we elect our public officials to have foresight and vision to prevent tragedy." To me, ... More »

By presenting both the perspectives of The Human Rights Campaign as well as the beliefs of The Church of Jesus christ of Latter-day Saints, this article is accurately and appropriately written where each side is sufficiently represented. However, the fact that the writer included the third-party perspectives stating how the American Psychological Association and the American Psychiatric Association disputing that therapy hasn't been proven to alter one's sexual orientation, hints ...
