Not really mentioned in this article are the strict banking regulations that Canada had in place. What I have read elsewhere indicates THAT was the primary reason that the recession didn't affect them as badly as it did the U.S. This "new" rating system doesn't account for "Timelyness" or the problem of using accurate statistics to come to a conclusion not warranted by the information provided.

She doesn't cover every potentially contributing cause for collapse, but makes the accurate point that many stresses are threatening all pollinators, even if a virus is found to be pushing them over the edge at this time.

This propaganda attack on a vaguely defined "American feminism" replicates a common conservative tactic. If an organization or person is not a perfect (environmentalist, feminist, etc) , then they are a "bad" (environmentalism, feminism, etc.) Although there is no discussion of the effectiveness of organizational tactics to promote change of any sort, feminist organizations are condemmed for picking "winnable campaigns" emphasizing local change rather than a globaly distant change in a part of the world under seige by the U.S. Major efforts by feminist organizations to bring attention to the plight of Islamic Women are cleverly put into the article and then "destroyed" with a single critical quote. That the supplemental appropriations bill has this benchmark ... to share oil revenue with all Iraqis" is extremely important news that I haven't seen on Altnet or Truthout. Also the information about our new Iraqi "Embassy" is presented in a new way. Unfortunately it shows how complicit many Dems are with corporate oil interests.
