This story gives a good accounting of the US financial system failure to Brits and explains how it could affect them.
This is the most complete, concise work on Ms Palin that I have seen, It hits all of the important points and draws out enough detail on each without belaboring things. I feel like I know Sarah Palin much better now. (I won't vote for her, but that is a different matter based on policies and issues). This article was very helpful.
The Right calling the progressive Left "Fascist" has to be an ultimate irony. There is considerable evidence that fascism is gaining traction in the US and Britain (both countries' religious right wings have always shown a taste for it), but to claim that it comes from the Left is Orwellian Doublespeak. Few in the US actually know what fascism is. To those I recommend "The Anatomy of Fascism" by Prof. Robert O. Paxton, the standard work.
Mr Gore's speech was wonderful. The NYT "annotation" scheme did not work on my machine most of the time, and when it did it just gave air time to luddites-- the sane old "he said, she said" of our broken media. Disgusting! I hope that the NYT staff will remember when the US looks like Blade Runner that THEY presided over and, worse, were "complicit enablers" of the fall of the US.
The commenters seem to know more about the finer points than the article writer. I continue to be amazed at how corrupt our financial system has become. No hope.
A sad commentary on "dirty tricks" politics making it necessary to have practically unlimited funds to defend yourself. Naturally, Mr McCain proved the necessity of this move even as he decried it!
This article completely misses the point of the news media and its special place in our country, and it also completely missed the fact that corporatism has taken it over. The commenters had more to say than the article. This is a very good example of why news media is headed for zero credibility.
Not sourced atall. Dejevsky obviously knows little about American politics or the Clintons (some of the commenters do). Didn't even spell Pelosi correctly.
We all know what happened. How can you argue with a video of the man denying his own actions? Not particularly interesting, though.
Clarifies question for Californians. Listening to radio it sounded like the Supreme Court had voided the initiative signatures.
Soros puts his money where his mouth is, and has become rich betting against the tide. I hope he is right! The Financial Times is usually quite accurate.
Backup on all significant statements. However, a bit premature in view of the early state of the campaign.
