In terms of social capital, this story lacks very much of it. It relates to the issue of governors' ideas coming together to be relatively the same. In a way this story brings up the idea of people working for each other by making harsher regulations on immigration. But this doesnt relate to the social networks, this is strictly government and the leaders using power to enforce laws they want.

This story is a great example of how Social Capital works. Groups who have been quietly fighting for a different strategy relating to border protection come together and decide it is time to speak up. These small groups join together to fight a bigger group, our Federal Government. This group that has formed through many networks wants to help border hoppers that are stranded in the dessert by adding cellphone towers. A fight between Goliath, and a bunch of Davids.

This article has framed this story with a frame that helps portray a different side to immigration. It is true that when most people think of immigration, they think of Hispanics, but this story gives us an insight on a view from another side within the hot topic of immigration. Having these people fight for attention shows us that it is not only about protecting our borders but it relates directly to America and its long standing immigration process that keeps families apart for years.

This story was framed around person responsibility. It is an attack on Angle but for correct reasons as she was using a touchy subject, 'race' as a background for her commercial. This story lacks context, it was used more to present the information and to let the reader gather their own opinions.

a.] There weren't alot of complexities. The article wasn't difficult to follow. b.] This article didn't go in depth on anything. c.] It gave me an understanding about how big immigration is. The fact that they have made over 1300 arrests is astounding. d.] It will probably raise some kind of chatter, but in a good way. People will respond positively when big arrests are made. e.] I don't think this will bring up many racial concerns due to the fact that these were also convicted felons.

a.] The article explain complexities very well. I haven't followed the oil spill but I understood everything that Chavkin was saying clearly. b.] Yes. Chavik went into great detail about this issue, giving us a behind the scene look into a small part of the oil spill crisis. c.] It clarified on thing, THIS WAS HUGE! I understood that this was the biggest oil spill ever but when companies are setting up $20 billion escrow accounts, you get a better picture. d.] I believe this story will make the public a little disturbed. It will definitely bring up dialogue because when people aren't being helped immediately, there is always an uprising. e.] Not applied in this article.
