The last known major outbreak among birds was in December 2005. Important to track, but sourcing of is limited to but one health ministry source. However, BBC offers a page with links to multiple bird flu stories, tracking the issue more comprehensively.
Loose Change is a streaming citizen documentary that, while highly controversial and one-sided, makes compelling points regarding the official version of 9/11. The film has been edited and re-released in a second edition, then recut again removing some of the inaccuracies that were in previous editions. A further "final cut" version was originally planned for release on September 11 2006, but was delayed and is now pushed back to February or March 2007. It is one of the most watched films on the Internet, with over 10 million viewers in 2006.
The NY Times is advancing the story that the Washington Post broke regarding President Bush's plans to increase troop size. The topic is of critical importance to US citizens, as indicated by the Times' placement of the piece on the front page, above the fold, upper right corner.
Important story, though my initial reaction to the piece's initial focus on semantics on whether we're winning or losing was annoyance. Why emphasize that compared to the actual plans to increase size of troops and its costs (increased casualties, 100 billion US dollars, etc.) However, on second thought, linguistic framing is important. Note the prior scuffle regarding calling the situation in Iraq a "civil war".
Attributes the information to "local iraqi forces" but doesn't say where he obtained the info. No attempt to balance the report with several sides, but continued reporting on blog leaves me with an impression that he is attempting to be fair as well as cover that which receives little coverage by traditional media. Like the analysis. Interesting factoid - guerilla force of 500.
It is labeled as commentary, so it isn't necessary objective reporting, but rather the author's viewpoint. Good to see that it is labeled as commentary.
bad. it repeats apparent propaganda by the administration, without mentioning it like is being intentionally used to influence opinion and therefore may not be fairly representing the information.
