The author is placing himself at risk of receiving a 7 year prison term just for having knowledge of homosexual people in Uganda, should this legislation pass. He speaks from first hand experence and offers perspectives that outsiders would not never have.

Being a queer that is embarased by the context of this story it has to be said it is well writen and highlights a condition in the American gay public, I am gay wealthy and vote for those who would intern the "rest of the gay community" in labor camps soI can maintain a perceived social status. Thats what everyone but the Jews and out gays said before WW2.

The reader might extract the meaning if the flow of content is considered.
